What is Air Cooled Heat Sink

Date:2022-08-25

Heat sink is an important and basic component in hot water (or steam) heating system. The hot water is cooled in the heat sink (or the steam is condensed in the heat sink) to supply heat to the room to achieve the purpose of heating. The metal consumption and cost of the radiator occupy a considerable proportion in the heating system. Therefore, the correct selection of the air cooled heat sink involves the economic indicators and operating effects of the system.

Pioneer Thermal air cooled heat sink

Thermal properties
The higher the heat transfer coefficient of the same material heat sink, the better its thermal performance. It can be used to increase the heat dissipation area of the outer wall (add wings (ribs)), increase the flow velocity of the air around the radiator (such as a steel string radiator with a cover), and strengthen the radiation intensity of the outer surface of the radiator (such as the outer surface is decorated with radiation coefficient. The thermal performance of the radiator is improved by measures such as reducing the contact thermal resistance between the various parts of the radiator (such as the steel pipe and the string of the steel string radiator).
Economic Indicators
The lower the unit heat dissipation cost (yuan/W) of the heat sink, the lower the installation cost, the longer the service life, and the better the economy. The higher the metal thermal strength of the heat sink of the same material (unit mass of metal, heat dissipation per 1°C of heat transfer temperature difference (unit: W/(kg·°C))), the better the economy.
Installation and use and process requirements
The air cooled heat sink should have a certain mechanical strength and pressure bearing capacity, and should be easy to install and combine into the required heat dissipation area; the size should be small, occupying less room area and space; the installation and use process is not easy to be damaged; the manufacturing process is simple, suitable for Mass production.
Hygiene and aesthetic requirements
The surface of the heat sink should be smooth and easy to remove dust, the appearance should be beautiful and harmonious with the room decoration.
Types of air cooled heat sinks
The heat sink is divided into radiator and convection radiator according to the heat exchange method. The convection heat dissipation of a convection radiator accounts for almost 100%, and it is sometimes called a "convection radiator"; other radiators dissipate heat by convection and radiation at the same time relative to a convection radiator, sometimes called a "radiator".
The heat sink is divided into casting heat sink, steel heat sink and other materials heat sink. Other material heat sink include radiators made of aluminum, copper, steel-aluminum composite, copper-aluminum composite, stainless steel-aluminum composite and enamel.
