Following is the basic components of the water cooling system
Water blocks
A water block is a component that is in direct contact with a heat source and is usually made of a metal that conducts heat well, such as copper or aluminum.
The design of the water block is crucial, as a good water block ensures that the coolant is in full contact with the heat source and improves heat dissipation efficiency. Some high-end water blocks also use milling to create microchannels that allow for a more even flow of coolant and enhanced heat dissipation.
Coolant
Coolant is the heat transfer medium of the water cooling system, and the common coolant is distilled water, deionized water, ethylene glycol aqueous solution, etc. Distilled water and deionized water have good thermal conductivity, but relatively weak corrosion resistance. Ethylene glycol aqueous solution has good antifreeze and anti-corrosion properties.
Water pump
The water pump is the power source of the water cooling system and is responsible for driving the coolant to circulate through the system. The flow rate and head of the pump are two important parameters. The flow rate determines the amount of coolant circulating per unit of time, and the head indicates the amount of resistance that the pump can overcome to ensure that the coolant can flow smoothly in the system.
Heat Sink
A heat sink is a component that dissipates the heat absorbed by the coolant into the air, and generally consists of heat dissipation fins and a cooling fan. The heat dissipation fins increase the heat dissipation area, and as the coolant flows through the radiator, the heat is conducted to the surface through the heat dissipation fins, and then the heat is accelerated by the cooling fan to carry the heat away.
Factors such as the size of the heatsink, fin density, and fan performance can all affect the heat dissipation. For example, in the water cooling system of a high-power server, a large heatsink with dense fins and multiple high-speed, high-volume cooling fans are used to cope with the large amount of heat generated by the server processor and other components.
Water pipe
Water pipes are used to connect the various components of the water cooling system, allowing the coolant to circulate between the water block, water pump, and heat sink.
